I got a 1099-Misc and under box 7 it says ?Nonemployee income? for $ 15,000.How do I file taxes for this or better yet, get an extension since I ?m running out of time?I keep re-posting this question because everyone is telling me to file 4868 which i did but thank God I did not mail it because that is form-1040th I need it for form 1099-Misc. Just go to any of the online tax prep sites and file a form 4868th That will give you a six-month extension for filing your return.However, if you owe any taxes (and it seems like you probably will), the extension does NOT apply to the money you owe. You need to pay that as soon as possible. It?s supposed to be paid by April 15 If you do not pay it today, interest will start accumulating.EDIT: The 4868 * IS * the form you use to request an extension for filing ? regardless of your income is reported on Whether a 1099 or on a W-2

Product reviews are just safety measures a buyer should take seriously so that their money will not go to waste not to mention not be fooled by fakes masquerading themselves as store owners or retailers. Checking online will not take a lot of time. Shopping may be good, but it will be better once you are confident that what you have paid for is actually the same thing you always wanted to have and not just a poor copy of it.

A team of researchers that includes a USC scientist has methodically demonstrated that a face's features or constituents more than the face per se are the key to recognizing a person.

Their study, which goes against the common belief that brains process faces "holistically," appears this month in Psychological Science.

In addition to shedding light on the way the brain functions, these results may help scientists understand rare facial recognition disorders.

Humans are great at recognizing faces. There are even regions in the brain that are specifically associated with face perception the most well-known one is the fusiform gyrus in the temporal lobe.

Common wisdom has it that humans recognize the face "holistically," meaning that there is something about the picture created by the entire face the particular arrangement of a face's eyes, nose, and mouth and not just these features themselves that makes it easier for the human brain to make a positive ID.

That common wisdom appears to be wrong.

"There is this belief that faces are special," said the study's coauthor Bosco Tjan, associate professor of psychology at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. "But why? How is the face special?"

To use an automotive metaphor, would it be easier for a car aficionado to identify a '58 Corvette by its distinctive quad headlights, chunky chrome grille and swoop on the side or if shown the car that all these pieces make when added together?

Tjan and collaborators Jason M. Gold, associate professor of psychology at Indiana University, Bloomington and IU undergraduate student Patrick J. Mundy tested participants on how accurately they were able to identify a set of faces by the parts of those faces the nose, left eye, right eye or mouth.

Then, using a well-established formula that Tjan developed in an earlier study, the researchers extrapolated how accurately each participant should be able to identify an entire face.

If humans were better at face recognition than nose or eye recognition, one would expect each participant to do a better job of identification when the features are all arranged together into a face. But in fact, the participants did a little worse than predicted by Tjan's formula.

Facial recognition, it appears, hinges on recognizing the face's features more than the "holistic" picture they add up to create.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Legislature is considering a bill that would dole out up to $2.5 million to private insurance companies that write policies for coastal properties.?

Under the proposal, companies would have to write policies for up to 1,000 properties now covered by the association to get the state money. Insurers that fall short of that goal but get more than halfway there could receive $1.25 million.

Rep. Randy Davis, a Republican from Daphne sponsoring the legislation, said his preference is the money would be taken from the state's General Fund.

LONDON (AP) ? Sotheby's auction house says News Corp. executive James Murdoch is stepping down from its board.

In a filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday, the auctioneer said Murdoch had decided not to stand for re-election at Sotheby's May 8 annual meeting in order to focus on his role as News Corp.'s deputy chief operating officer.

Murdoch, he younger son of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, has been shedding posts to concentrate on his role in his father's television business.

Last month he quit as chairman of News International, News Corp.'s British newspaper division.

He has repeatedly denied knowing about widespread phone hacking at the now-shuttered News of the World tabloid, though his account has been contradicted by former associates.

Celebrating International Women's Day by Investing in Women and ...

As we observe Women?s History Month throughout March, we celebrate the work pioneered by advocates, policymakers, and practitioners around the world to advance women?s rights. Promoting the rights of women and addressing gender inequities and gender norms are essential steps to reducing HIV risk and increasing access to HIV prevention, care and treatment services ? for both women and men.

The Secretary?s Office of Global Women?s Issues (S/GWI) and the President?s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) are committed to advancing the rights and health of women and girls around the world. Under the leadership of President Obama and Secretary Clinton, the United States has put women and girls front and center in the three pillars of our foreign policy ? diplomacy, development, and defense. This is embodied in a number of Presidential and policy directives, such as the interagency Global Health Initiative, which includes a central focus on women, girls and gender equality.

Today, at the National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day event at the White House, we announced a joint S/GWI and PEPFAR initiative. We will support civil society organizations with small grants to prevent and respond to gender-based violence (GBV), with a link to HIV prevention, treatment or care. Through this partnership, we will provide over $4.6 million in small grants to grassroots organizations in countries with a PEPFAR presence, leveraging our respective platforms in the field and creating links to address the drivers of both violence and HIV.

The White House also released a Presidential Memorandum establishing a working group to explore the intersection of HIV/AIDS, violence against women and girls, and gender-related health disparities in the United States ? and will include lessons learned from our international work in this area. This is a prime example of our Administration?s commitment to advancing the agenda for women and girls, and to addressing the link between violence and health disparities, here at home.

As we move forward globally, we will continue to focus on several key objectives ? including reducing GBV and coercion; engaging men and boys to address norms and behavior; increasing women and girls? legal protection; increasing women and girls? access to income and productive resources, including education; and ensuring gender equity in HIV/AIDS programs and services, including access to reproductive health services.

We have made significant investments to address gender as a central focus of our foreign policy and development goals, in close partnership with other U.S. agencies, partner governments, civil society, and the private sector. For example, over the last two years, PEPFAR has invested close to $155 million in responding to GBV. We have also been a big supporter of working to help identify female-controlled prevention methods, investing more than $90 million dollars over the last two years in microbicide research. And, since 2004, we have supplied over 55 million female condoms ? making PEPFAR one of the largest procurers of female condoms worldwide. S/GWI has made over $5.5 million in small grants to organizations around the world working on issues from economic empowerment to GBV to political participation and leadership. From mainstreaming gender throughout all programs, to special gender initiatives at the country level, the United States is making a difference in the lives of women and girls.

We are also partners in the Together for Girls initiative ? a unique partnership that brings together public, private, United Nations and U.S. agencies to address sexual violence against children, particularly girls. In Tanzania, for example, the first nationally representative survey of violence against children in 2010 found that nearly three in ten females and one in seven males experienced sexual violence prior to the age of 18. Such evidence will be used to inform future programming and guide policy priorities ? including in Kenya, Swaziland, Zimbabwe and Haiti, with future work planned in additional countries.

We are starting to see results on the ground. In 2011, PEPFAR supported post-exposure prophylaxis to prevent HIV infection for survivors of sexual violence to over 47,000 people, nearly 34 percent more than the year before.

There is still much work ahead. But the remarkable achievements to date give us hope for the future.
